All About Nusantara Table
The word "Nusantara" is a combination of two Old Javanese words:
"nusa" is derived from the Proto-Malayo-Polynesian word "nusa", meaning "island" and
"antara" is derived from the Sanskrit word अन्तरा (antarā), meaning "in between" or "outer".
As a compound word, literally means "outer islands" or "the islands between."
It is generally taken to mean the Indonesian Archipelago.
The word "Nusantara" is pronounced with emphasis on the second syllable, roughly as
"noo-san-TAH-rah":
Nu: (rhymes with "noon")
san: (as in "sun")
TA: (similar to "taught" but with a slight emphasis on "th" or "delta")
